🔗 Revisiting Hummingbot’s Approach to Exchanges in light of FTX/Alameda
Since FTX was a partner of Hummingbot Foundation, we posted a Twitter thread about the minimal impact of its bankruptcy on us from a financial perspective:

However, FTX was one of exchanges that the community voted to certify for Epoch 2, so we have spent substantial effort in supporting them, including weeks of wasted building a FTX perpetual connector.
It’s made the Foundation re-evaluate how we should support exchanges. Currently, we spent the bulk of our bandwidth adding and maintaining new connectors, but the bulk of usage and fee share come from the top exchanges. In addition, the presence of connectors to exchanges like FTX that get hacked or rugged in the codebase may actually be harmful to our users.
After careful consideration, we have published a Notion doc and Loom video that describes our proposed solution:
Let us know what you think in the related discussion thread in the #proposals-discussion channel in Discord!
Once there is agreement around how to modify the approach toward exchanges, we plan to roll them out at the start of Epoch 3 in Jan 2023.
🤖 First Botcamp cohort has started!
We’ve found that the people who are making money using Hummingbot tend to be developers who have been able to customize and create their own strategies.
Therefore, we’re starting Botcamp: an intensive, hands-on, 4-week course where anyone can learn how to create market making and quant trading strategies using Hummingbot.
This week, we will begin the first formal Botcamp cohort with all 20 seats filled. Participants will undergo an intensive 4-week course to design and build their custom trading scripts, culminating in a Demo Day in late December where they compete for fun, HBOT prizes, and open source glory!
We have started processing applications for the next Botcamp cohort, which will start in January 2023. Reserve your spot today before they are gone!
🎉 New Hummingbot Twitter and Blog
To eliminate confusion and to grow our Twitter presence, we have combined all Hummingbot Twitter accounts into one official one: https://twitter.com/_hummingbot
This account will share news about monthly releases, new Miner campaigns, demo videos, and other news from Hummingbot Foundation and the broader ecosystem.

Similarly, we have re-organized and re-launched the Hummingbot blog at: https://blog.hummingbot.org.
This new format will make it easier for us to post articles, both from us and the community. Expect more posts soon about our 2023 technical roadmap, stories from BotCamp, and other aspects of the Hummingbot ecosystem.

❌ Don’t fall for HBOT scams!
Finally, we have seen reports of scammers DM-ing users on Discord, Twitter and other channels advertising fake HBOT token sales, as well as bot spammers that impersonated the names & profile of Hummingbot Foundation team members.
If you see anyone trying to scam Hummingbot users, please report it in the new #scam-reports Discord channel.
Hummingbot Foundation has never conducted any pre-sale or sale of HBOT tokens, and anyone purporting to offer HBOT tokens is a scammer.
The only way to get HBOT tokens from the Foundation is to earn them via approved Hummingbot Governance Proposals and Hummingbot Improvement Proposals.
